The kitchen also known as the non-volley zone extends seven feet from both sides of the court.
The kitchen rules are simple:
- You can hit the ball inside
the kitchen or non-volley zone only after the ball hits the surface inside the
kitchen.
- Returning the ball from the air or volley is not allowed within the kitchen, it must first land on the surface.
On both sides of the court, beginners often do not think about the kitchen, so it is important that we all learn the kitchen rules.
